1 person in critical condition after an auto-pedestrian crash in Central East Austin (Austin, TX)

One person was critically injured after getting struck by a vehicle early Wednesday morning in central east Austin.

As per the initial information, authorities actively responded to the intersection of East 12th Street and Chicon Street at about 12:40 a.m. on reports of an auto-pedestrian accident. The victim was declared a trauma alert and being rushed to Dell Seton Medical Center with critical, life-threatening injuries.

On the other hand, the driver stayed at the scene after the accident and was taken into custody on DWI charges. The circumstances surrounding the crash remain unclear at this time. No other details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
