1 person hurt after a vehicle hits a detached trailer on Interstate 80 (Napa County, CA)

On Wednesday afternoon, one person was hurt after a vehicle crashed into a trailer that got separated from a semi-truck on Interstate 80.

The traffic collision took place at about 3:30 p.m. on the east of Flosden Road, west of Interstate 80. The preliminary investigation revealed that a trailer and a semi-truck crashed that led to the closure of American Canyon Road. The trailer got separated from a semi and its driver left it behind, unaware of the incident.

After that, an oncoming car struck the detached trailer. The driver of that vehicle suffered minimal injuries. Finally, the driver of the semi came back when he realized that he lost the trailer. Officials did not treat the incident as a hit-and-run. Authorities closed American Canyon Road in a Nixle alert at about 4:25 p.m. At approximately 5:47 p.m., the road was back open to traffic. No additional information has been provided.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
