1 person hospitalized following a hit-and-run accident in Chula Vista (Chula Vista, CA)

One person was hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident early Monday morning in Chula Vista.

As per the initial information, the hit-and-run crash took place at about 12:45 a.m. in the 500 block of Broadway. The early reports showed that a white Kia sedan was pulling onto Broadway when an oncoming Jeep Grand Cherokee struck the front of the car. The force of the collision caused the Jeep to lose control and flip over several times before it came to a stop on its roof.

According to the eyewitnesses, the SUV’s driver came out of the wreckage and then left the scene, leaving behind a passenger. On arrival, responders treated the passenger at the scene and then transported that person to the hospital in unknown condition. The Kia’s driver was not hurt. Police found a box of Modelo beer and empty beer bottles inside the SUV. Officials have not provided a description of the hit-and-run driver. No other details are available.

The incident remains under review.
