1 person hospitalized after a wrong-way crash on SR 167 (Sumner, WA)

On Monday, one person suffered injuries following a wrong-way crash on SR 167.

As per the initial information, the two-vehicle collision was reported at 2:42 a.m. on southbound State Route 167 at 24th Street East in Sumner. The preliminary investigation revealed that two vehicles crashed head-on into each other.

The driver of the victim’s vehicle was rushed to the hospital with serious, but non-fatal injuries. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was detained for investigation of DUI. Both southbound lanes were shut down as crews worked at the scene, but the lanes have since reopened. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
