1 person hospitalized after a hit-and-run collision on I-15 in Escondido; driver wanted (Escondido, CA)

One person was hospitalized after a rollover crash Thursday in Escondido.

As per the initial information, the hit-and-run collision was reported just before 11 p.m. Thursday on northbound I-15, just north of Via Rancho Parkway. The early reports showed that an SUV hit the back of a pickup truck, causing the truck to flip over.

According to the authorities, the SUV pulled over further down the freeway, and officials believe that the SUV’s driver came out of the car and ran away from the scene. The driver of the truck incurred minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Multiple lanes were shut down for at least one hour during the investigation and cleanup. CHP officials said they are looking for the registered owner of the abandoned SUV. No other details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
