The Tempe Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash on Wednesday afternoon in Tempe. The accident happened close to Southern Avenue and Priest Drive at around 2:30 p.m. The collision involved three vehicles.
A speeding sports car driver lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic, hitting a van head-on. According to the investigators, a third car struck the two.
The sports car’s passenger passed away at the scene. The van’s drivers and sports car were taken to the hospital. The third car’s driver was unharmed. The identities of the victims are not yet known at this time.
Police suspect the sports car driver was intoxicated at the time of the fatal crash, but it’s unclear if they will be charged.
