The Albuquerque Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash on Friday.
According to the police, the collision took place at around 3 a.m. on Dennis Chavez Blvd. between Unser Boulevard and 98th Street.
The two vehicles collided head-on as a Hyundai was traveling east on Dennis Chavez and a Buick Sedan was traveling west.
According to police, the male driver of the Buick fled on foot after the collision while the male driver of the Hyundai died at the scene. The Buick was later reported to have been a stolen vehicle. Police claim that a witness described the fleeing driver as a young, thin Hispanic man wearing dark clothing.
According to police, it is unknown what caused the collision. The driver of the Buick has not been located and the authorities have not released any details regarding the man’s identity.
The fatal crash is still being investigated.
