1 person died, 2 others injured after a crash along 118 Freeway in Mission Hills (Los Angeles, CA)

One person was killed and two others received injuries after a crash Monday morning along the 118 Freeway in Mission Hills.

As per the initial information, the traffic collision took place at around 7:30 a.m. on the westbound side of the highway, just east of the 405 Freeway.  The early reports showed that a panel truck and a work truck towing a trailer were involved in the accident.

One person had to be removed from the work truck. One person died and two men received serious injuries as a result of the wreck. The right three lanes of the 118 are blocked, and so is the left lane of the transition to the southbound 405.

Traffic is backed up for miles in the area. Officials asked motorists to avoid the area. The box truck had major front-end damage in the crash. No other details are available.

The incident remains under review.
