1 person dead, woman injured after an auto-pedestrian collision in Katy (Katy, TX)

On early Sunday morning, one person was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Katy.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at about 12:35 a.m. in the 21800 block of the Katy Freeway on the eastbound service road near Mason. The early reports showed that the pedestrian was sitting or standing on the west embankment of Mason Creek Drive when a 2016 Ford Edge drifted off the roadway and drove over him in the air.

The victim got struck by the Ford before it came to a full rest in the east embankment. The pedestrian suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials. The driver of that Ford, described as a 21-year-old woman, was flown to the hospital by LifeFlight with unspecified injuries. The woman was believed to have been driving while intoxicated. No other details are made available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
