    1 person dead, several others injured after a multi-vehicle accident in Smith County (Tyler, TX)

    On late Wednesday, one person was killed while several others suffered injuries following a traffic collision in Smith County.

    As per the initial information, at least five emergency vehicles responded to the crash scene approximately 10 miles east of Tyler, near the Smith/Gregg county line. The early reports showed that three vehicles were involved in the collision. Several victims were taken to area hospitals and one person died as a result of the accident.

    Eastbound and westbound lanes of traffic were closed for hours until the roadway was cleared at about 3:30 a.m. The portion of State Highway 31 has reopened to traffic. No other details are immediately available.

    An investigation into the crash is ongoing.

    Austin-Travis County EMS responded to a vehicle crash in North Austin. The wreck occurred shortly before midnight. A person was reported to have been injured in the crash. Officials have not yet identified the victim. The Authorities were called to the crash scene on Parmer Lane near I-35.     Houston Police Department arrested a driver following a deadly hit-and-run crash in Northeast Houston. The three-vehicle crash occurred in the 10700 block of Homestead Road Sunday.
