1 Person Dead In A Fatal Crash In Whiskeytown (Whiskeytown, CA)

According to the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office, a fatal accident took place on Highway 299 near Whiskeytown National Recreation Area. 

The officials have confirmed that the driver of an SUV collided with a big rig on Highway 299, west of Redding on Thursday afternoon. 

According to Sgt. Tim Hinkson of the California Highway Patrol, a semi-truck driver travelling on Highway 299 was also injured in the crash. 

The fiery crash led to a fire that spread across 35 acres reported by the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. 

The identity of the victim was not released by the CHP. 

No additional information regarding the condition of the semi-truck driver is available. 

The CHP is investigating the reason behind the collision.
