One person was killed and another received injuries after a traffic collision Friday in Borrego Springs.
As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash took place just after 11:30 a.m. on Borrego Salton Sea Way. The early reports showed that the GMC pickup truck driven by a man was heading eastbound with a 57-year-old Indio man as the passenger.
For unknown reasons, a 55-year-old Cherry Valley man driving a Freightliner veered into the GMC’s lane, resulting in the wreck. The pickup truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the officials. The GMC passenger was flown to Palomar Medical Center in Escondido with moderately serious injuries. The big rig driver remained unharmed in the accident. No other details are available.
The crash remains under investigation.
