1 person dead after being struck by an Amtrak train at West Irving Station (Irving, TX)

On Tuesday, an Amtrak train hit and took the life of one person crossing the tracks at West Irving Station.

As per the initial information, the fatal pedestrian accident took place a little after 4 p.m. The early reports showed that the train was going from San Antonio to Chicago when it struck the person. The 109 passengers and crew onboard remained unharmed in the accident.

The transit agency reported that the incident did not involve DART personnel or equipment. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are immediately available.

The incident remains under investigation.
