On Sunday, one person died after getting struck by a train in Grand Rapids.
The fatal pedestrian accident took place at about 9:45 p.m. on the railroad tracks near 240 Front Avenue. The early reports showed that a pedestrian was hit by a train. The victim suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.
The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. Officers learned that the victim was staying at Exodus Place, a transitional housing space for people who are looking to reclaim their lives after leaving the prison system or recovering from a substance use disorder. No further details were provided.
The incident remains under investigation.
