1 person dead after being struck by a Capital Metro train in North Austin (Austin, TX)

One person was killed after being struck by a Capital Metro train Wednesday afternoon in North Austin.

As per the initial information, the fatal pedestrian accident took place at about 2:40 p.m. in the 9000 block of Research Boulevard. A MetroRail train stopped under the overpass near northbound service road and the Burnet Road intersection.

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Major traffic delays were expected in the area. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.

The incident remains under review.
