1 person dead after being hit by a Caltrain in Mountain View (Mountain View, CA)

On Thursday morning, one person was killed after being hit by a Caltrain in Mountain View.

As per the initial information, the fatal pedestrian incident took place near Rengstorff Avenue. The 104 train was delayed as emergency responders arrived on the scene to tend to the victim. Another train, southbound 702 replaced the 104 train to complete the rest of the stops. Officials confirmed that the person died of their injuries after the accident.

Both tracks were cleared at about 9 a.m. and trains were cleared for maximum speed. At this time, it is unknown why the person was on the tracks. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are available.

The incident remains under investigation.
