1 person dead after an SUV rammed into a tree on Mira Mesa Boulevard (San Diego, CA)

On Thursday morning, one person died after an SUV rammed into a tree along Mira Mesa Boulevard and caused road closures in the area.

As per the initial information, the single-vehicle accident took place at about 5:40 a.m. The early reports showed that the vehicle, for unknown reasons, swerved left and drove onto the raised median where it crashed into a large tree. Authorities confirmed that the driver died at the scene.

The fatal crash did not involve any other vehicles. Mira Mesa Boulevard was shut down between Reagan Road and Montongo Street. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified.

The incident remains under review.
