1 person dead after an auto-pedestrian crash in Santa Clarita (Santa Clarita, CA)

One person died after being hit by a vehicle Saturday morning in Santa Clarita.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the northbound 5 Freeway near the 14 Freeway interchange at about 3:39 a.m. after getting reports of an auto-pedestrian crash. According to the officials, the pedestrian died as a result of the accident.

It is unknown if the driver involved remained at the scene or not after the crash. All northbound 5 Freeway lanes were shut down with traffic being redirected to the northbound 14 Freeway. All lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway were later reopened to traffic.

An investigation is ongoing.
