1 person dead after an auto-pedestrian crash in Eagle Rock (Los Angeles, CA)

One person died after getting hit by a vehicle Sunday night in Eagle Rock.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash was first reported at 11:38 p.m. on the eastbound 134 Freeway just west of Figueroa Street. Authorities actively responded to the scene and, on arrival, found the gray Hyundai Veloster that had struck a pedestrian.

The driver reportedly thought that they had hit a large animal. It is unknown if the pedestrian died at the scene or at an area hospital. The CHP announced a Sig Alert closing down all eastbound freeway lanes at Harvey Drive and traffic was able to divert at the 2 Freeway. No other information is available.

The accident remains under investigation.
