1 person dead after an auto-pedestrian collision in Sandy Springs (Sandy Springs, GA)

On Sunday morning, one person died after getting struck by a vehicle on I-285 in Sandy Springs.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place at Roswell Road at about 6:30 a.m. The early reports showed that a vehicle hit the person along the westbound lanes at Roswell Road. The pedestrian died of their injuries after the crash. The interstate was fully closed for a short time and multiple lanes were blocked until approximately 9:15 a.m. as crews worked at the scene.

Eastbound lanes were not impacted due to the crash. The Georgia Department of Transportation also responded to the scene, but officers confirmed that it did not involve a construction worker. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No further details were provided.

The incident remains under review.
