1 person dead after an auto-pedestrian collision in North Hollywood (Los Angeles, CA)

One person was killed after getting hit by a city of LA-owned vehicle Tuesday night in North Hollywood.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian collision took place at 10:30 p.m. on the northbound side of the 170 Freeway near Victory Boulevard. The person on the freeway was pronounced dead at the scene. It was not known why the person was on the freeway.

The driver in the vehicle was transported to a hospital with unspecified injuries. Three lanes of the freeway were shut down for over six hours during the investigation. Traffic was backed up for miles due to the accident. No additional details are available.

The incident remains under review.
