1 person dead after an auto-pedestrian collision in Chula Vista (Chula Vista, CA)

A man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle Thursday evening in Chula Vista.

As per the initial information, the fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at approximately 5:50 PM on State Route 54, east of Highland Avenue. The early reports showed that a Toyota Scion was parked on the side of State Route 54 after the car broke down.

The man was reportedly changing his tire when a Mazda Sedan struck him. On arrival, emergency crews rushed the victim to the hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.

Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be involved in the crash. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of the kin is notified. No additional information has been provided by the officials.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
