1 person dead after a wrong-way collision on I-80 near Wadsworth (Wadsworth, NV)

On Saturday afternoon, one person was killed following a multi-vehicle wreck near Wadsworth.

As per the initial information, the fatal car crash took place at 3:56 p.m. The early reports showed that a white Ford Focus was heading the wrong way in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 when it crashed into a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Ford Focus nearly struck a North Lyon County Fire District ambulance prior to the collision.

The ambulance veered to avoid the car and sideswiped a tractor trailer. The ambulance had minor damage, but neither of the medics in the ambulance received any injuries. The driver of the Ford Focus died as a result of the accident while a passenger suffered injuries. No other details are immediately available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
