1 person dead after a two-vehicle wreck on FM 1660 in Taylor (Taylor, TX)

On Wednesday morning, one person was killed following a two-vehicle wreck in Taylor.

As per the initial information, the fatal semi-truck crash took place on FM 1660 near FM 973 at about 2 a.m. The early reports showed that one 18-wheeler with a flatbed trailer carrying large steel pipes was heading eastbound on FM 1660. The other 18-wheeler was traveling northbound on FM 973.

The first 18-wheeler reportedly collided with the second one. The driver of one of the 18-wheelers succumbed to their injuries after the wreck. The condition of the other driver is unknown at this time.  Eastbound 1660 was closed from FM 973 to SH 95 early Wednesday as crews worked to clean up the scene.

It was later reported that the intersection of FM 1660 and FM 973 was blocked due to the crash and a fuel spill. Motorists were asked to avoid the area. No other details are available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
