On Sunday, one person was killed while another suffered injuries following a two-vehicle accident in Hawthorne.
As per the initial information, the motorcycle crash took place at about 11 a.m. on the 405 Freeway in Hawthorne in which a motorcycle and another vehicle were involved. The early reports revealed that the motorcyclist rear-ended a vehicle for undetermined reasons. One person died of their injuries at the scene. On arrival, medics rushed one victim to a nearby medical facility with unspecified injuries.
At this time, it is unknown if the motorcycle rider or driver of the vehicle died in the accident. Officials completely shut down all lanes on the northbound 405 Freeway for several hours on Sunday, but two of the lanes were opened as of 1 p.m. The rest of the lanes were back open at 3 p.m. No other details were provided.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
