On Tuesday morning, one person was killed after crashing their vehicle into an 18-wheeler in Warren.
As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the intersection of Van Dyke Avenue and E. 8 Mile Road at about 2:20 a.m. after getting reports of a two-vehicle crash. The preliminary investigation indicated that a Dodge Durango and a Chevy vehicle were going at a high rate of speed down 8 Mile Road near Ryan when the driver of the Chevy crashed into a semi-truck. On arrival, responders found the car underneath the semi.
According to the eyewitnesses, the Chevrolet seemed to run through a red light before crashing into the truck. It is unclear at this time whether the Dodge Durango was also involved in the collision. Officials have not provided any information regarding the status of the semi-truck driver. Officials shut down the area as crews worked at the scene. The intersection has been cleared as of now. No other details are available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
