A motorcycle rider was killed following a multi-vehicle wreck Sunday afternoon in Tempe.
As per the initial information, the fatal three-vehicle pile-up took place on U.S. 60 near the Loop 101 ramp. The early reports showed that a motorcycle rammed into a vehicle that was stopped in the road. After that, the motorcycle rider was struck by another vehicle. It is unclear why the first vehicle was stopped in the road.
U.S. 60 westbound was shut down for approximately an hour as crews worked at the scene. The extent of injuries sustained by other drivers is unknown at this time. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are made available
An investigation is continuing.
