A man lost his life after getting struck by a vehicle in Memphis while officers arrested 23-year-old Xavion Nelson.
As per the initial information, the fatal pedestrian accident took place shortly before 1 a.m. at Mt. Moriah and Willow. The preliminary investigation indicated that Xavion Nelson was driving a 2019 Ford Mustang southbound on Mt. Moriah when he struck a pedestrian who was trying to cross the street outside of a crosswalk. On arrival, medics transported the pedestrian to Regional One, where he was later declared dead at 1:07 a.m.
Reports further added that Nelson’s driver’s license came back suspended for failure to satisfy citations after conviction. He also had no evidence of valid insurance. Officers arrested Nelson and took him to 201 Poplar. He was charged with Financial Responsibility and Driving while License S/R/C. Nelson’s car was towed to the city lot. No further details were provided.
The incident remains under investigation.
