On early Saturday morning, one person was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Mesa while the driver of the involved vehicle fled the scene.
As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run crash took place a little before 1:00 a.m. in the area of University Drive and 54th Street. The early reports showed that the person was walking close to the north curb when he was hit by a westbound vehicle. The victim suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.
The driver of the involved vehicle left the scene after the collision and remains at large. According to the authorities, the involved car, probably black in color, might have suffered damage to its passenger side, including the bumper area, hood, quarter panels, pillars, doors, or exterior mirror.
Several paint chips were also found at the scene. There was also a proof that the windshield and windows might have been damaged due to the accident. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other information has been provided.
