1 person dead after a hit-and-run crash in Los Angeles (Los Angeles, CA)

On early Saturday, one person was killed after being hit by a vehicle in Los Angeles.

As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run crash took place at approximately 1:45 a.m. in the 500 block of North Figueroa Place, beneath the 110 Freeway overpass. The preliminary investigation showed that a GMC Envoy SUV swerved off the road and smashed through the sidewalk lined with tents, bicycles, and other wreckage until it stopped.

The driver left the scene after the collision and remains at large. On arrival, responding officers found one victim in the debris. That person was pronounced dead at the scene by the officials. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No further details were provided.

The incident remains under active review.
