1 person dead after a 7-vehicle pile-up on I-85N near Suwanee in Gwinnett County (Suwanee, GA)

On Wednesday afternoon, one person was killed following a multi-vehicle wreck in Gwinnett County.

Officials actively responded to the area of northbound Interstate 85, just north of McGinnis Ferry Road at about 3:20 p.m. after getting reports of a seven-vehicle pile-up. The early reports showed that a pick-up truck rear-ended another vehicle and claimed the life of a passenger. Multiple agencies responded to the crash scene. Charges will be taken by Gwinnett Police, officials mentioned.

Drivers were asked to expect delays and adopt an alternate route. Earlier in the day, four lanes were closed on Interstate 85 south of Lawrenceville-Suwanee. Officers said that several hours later those lanes have reopened. According to the authorities, the closure is helping officers at mile marker 111 in Suwanee. It is unknown how many people in total were involved in the collision. No other details are available.

An investigation is continuing.
