Authorities responded to a two-vehicle crash that claimed a life and injured four others. The crash happened on Trent Avenue near Pines Road in Spokane Valley on Saturday afternoon around 2:25 p.m.
According to WSP, 69-year-old Michel J Newcomb was driving a 2006 Ford Explorer when a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Daniel J Swain, 60, crossed into oncoming traffic and hit Newcomb’s SUV.
Newcomb was pronounced dead at the scene. He was restrained during the crash.
Two victims had to be rescued from the vehicle. The Fire department said two out of four victims were critically injured.
Swain and his passengers were taken to a hospital.
The crash is being investigated by WSP.
