1 person critically injured after a fiery crash on I-35 in far north Austin (Austin, TX)

On Friday morning, one person suffered critical injuries following a fiery crash in far north Austin.

As per the initial information, the traffic collision took place on Interstate 35. The early reports showed that a vehicle got engulfed in flames due to the accident and an adult was pinned inside that vehicle. On arrival, firefighters extricated the person from the vehicle and rushed them to the hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.

Two northbound lanes of I-35 just south of Wells Branch were closed as crews worked at the scene. Vehicles were rerouted to the frontage road at exit 247. While an officer was rerouting drivers to leave I-35 just north of Howard Lane, another car crashed into the patrol vehicle. No one was injuries as a result of the collision. No other details are made available.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
