1 person arrested after a vehicle slams into a car, and then a house in Encinitas (Encinitas, CA)

Authorities took one person into custody after a vehicle slammed into a Tesla and then a house early Sunday morning in Encinitas.

As per the initial information, the traffic collision took place at about 2 a.m. on Santa Fe Drive near Stratford Drive. The home was not severely damaged due to the crash, but it took out a fence and some landscaping, and struck a utility line that started leaking gas.

The incident happened after the driver also hit a Tesla, whose owner waited to talk to the authorities outside the home where the driver hit the gas line. It was not known how much time passed between the two collisions, but officials confirmed that they detained the driver at the scene.

It is unknown what charges the driver would face. No one was seriously injured and the residents were able to remain in their home after the gas leak was resolved.

An investigation is ongoing.
