According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, a motorcycle accident took place on monday morning.
The officials stated that a man was traveling on the eastbound lanes of Loop 303 west of Lake Pleasant Parkway at around 5:30 a.m.
The motorcyclist struck a donkey with his vehicle.
The rider suffered serious injuries in the crash and was taken to the area hospital.
The identity of the victim was not revealed by the officials.
The officials stated that it is not clear why the donkey was on the roadway or where it came from.
The crash led to the closure of eastbound lanes of the 303 for two hours.
