According to the statement given by Lt. Cornelius Ashton, a couple was hit by a car on the lighted crosswalk along South Coast Highway on Thursday night.
The official stated that the couple had just celebrated their anniversary at Ristorante Rumari when they headed across the highway at Pearl Street. The incident took place at around 9:38 p.m.
The Police are suspecting that a light-coloured sedan truck struck them as it was travelling south on the highway.
The 60-year-old man was found on the scene with life-threatening injuries and the woman, identified as 60-year-old, was suffering from moderate injuries.
The couple was taken to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo, where the man was pronounced dead by the authorities.
The Laguna police are looking for the driver involved in the hit-and-run crash.
Identities of the victims are awaited by the Laguna Police Department.
