The California Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle crash early Sunday that claimed a life and severely injured another. The crash happened on Keyes road east of Pioneer road at around 1:10 a.m.
An eastbound 2008 Mazda3 driven by a male veered into the westbound lane into the path of a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado.
31-year-old Richard John Agresti of Ceres drove the Silverado and was struck by the Mazda.
It is unclear if the Mazda driver was wearing a seatbelt.
Following the collision, he was ejected from the vehicle and landed on the road. Silverado ended up in an orchard.
According to the CHP, Agresti suffered severe injuries from the crash, including a laceration to his head.
The Mazda driver who suffered head trauma died at the scene.
The investigators are yet to determine if drugs or alcohol factored in the crash.
