1 Dead, 1 Injured In A Motor Vehicle Crash In Byron Township (Byron Township, MI )

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash in Byron Township on Friday afternoon. The crash happened on 76th Street near Indigo Ridge Avenue around 4 p.m. 

According to KCSO, a woman is dead, and a man is in the hospital after a chain reaction that was set off when a Jeep driver tried passing on the shoulder. The Jeep driver tried to get around a pickup that slowed for turn traffic. 

After swerving back onto the road, the 36-year-old collided with the truck, pushing it into a Kia Forte. The Kia driver, 29-year-old Misty Rackow, died at the scene. The pickup truck driver, a 36-year-old Wyoming man, was transported to the hospital for severe injuries. The Jeep driver was not injured in the crash.  

Additional information regarding the crash is currently unavailable. An investigation into the crash is under review.
