The Louisiana State Police are searching for a pickup truck in connection with a double fatal hit-and-run on the westbound elevated Westbank Expressway Friday morning.
The crash happened on the elevated Westbank Expressway near Ames Blvd. around 3:30 a.m.
Two people riding a motorized scooter west in the center lane were struck by the pickup truck.
Following the collision, both were ejected from the motorcycle.
The first died at the scene, and the second died in a hospital in the area.
According to the police, the pickup truck failed to stop and fled the scene with the scooter under it.
The scooter was engulfed in flames and dislodged from the truck near Garden road in Marrero.
The troopers identified the pickup truck as a white 2004 Ford F-150 with an extended cab and a silver toolbox.
The motorcycle crash is being investigated.
